Day 35 - Terrys Daily Art

Home Again

This actually looks GREAT! Sorry about the scanning. I was really happy with this. I figure, 20 more Palm Tree paintings, and I will be like soo good at it. This Palm Tree is to the left of my van. I get to look at it all day when I'm working in my van. How great is that?

Day 34 - Terrys Daily Painting

Yucaipa Regional Park at Sunset

Well, I only had an hour before sunset, so I had to work really quick. It still needs finished. I'm not used to it getting dark at 7:20. What is happening with California?

Day 33 - Terrys Daily Art

To be honest, i did do a painting up at Wildwood canyon. But I hated it. Therefore, I am replacing it with another laundry day painting.

Day 32 - Terry's Daily Painting

Next Time - Bug Spray!

I was practicing values and pushing colors. Then, a swarm of bugs attacked me. So I'm thinking, time to finish this another day, while I have some skin left.

Day 31 - Terrys Daily Art

Yucaipa - Community Center
Sorry, couldn't finish the one up at Ford Street Park in Redlands. The bugs came out, so I left. It's rare that I finish up a painting at home, but I think I will do that.

This painting, well I was enjoying practicing rounding hills, if that is such a term. (Boy, am I sure that I'm speaking English?) I could tweak down the forward mountain a notch. But, usually my rule is that once I leave the site, it's finished. I guess I will have to make an exception to that rule. If bugs start chewing me, then I will complete the painting at home.

Day 30 - Terrys Daily Painting

Yes!

It is actually cloudy in Yucaipa. Maybe we will get a storm! Who knows. This is even more exciting than when the sheep crossed the road last year.

Day 28 - Terrys' Daily Paintings

Practice Landscape - Yucaipa

The old joke is, how many artists does it take to paint a painting.

TWO - One to do the painting and the second to tell her to stop. I had this painting perfect, then I continued on. Had to muck around with the foreground. I'll either learn to stop, or learn to bring another artist to help me:)

Day 27 - Terrys' Daily Art

Wildwood Canyon in Yucaipa

Had a nice time up in Yucaipa. This little park is about a mile from my home. It's beautiful. It has oak trees and magnificent canyons. If you have a horse, you can travel down into the canyon, and end up at the equestrian center on the other side. Neat! If you get there early in the morning, (unfortunately, I didn't) the light show is spectacular.

This painting was done with 2 colors only. French Ultramarine Blue and Quin. Burnt Orange. I can get a large value of greys with just these two colors.

Day 26 - Terrys' Daily Painting

Yucaipa Community Center

Spent the early evening here tonight. Believe it or not, my paintings look sooo much better. I've got to get either my scanner adjusted, or figure out a better way to upload my paintings.

The Community Center is really nice. It has a couple of tennis courts, basketball courts, lots of shaded picnic areas with grills and hiking trails.

Day 25 - Terrys' Daily Art

Redlands - Ford Street Park

View from across the street at Ford Street Park in Redlands.

I really enjoy this park. It has two large ponds. One of which has a small island in the middle, where ducks love to sun bathe. I see alot of people fishing there. Not sure if they ever catch anything.

The park has alot of picnic areas, tennis courts, and play by yourself tennis courts.

Day 23 - Terrys Daily Painting

I was really nervous painting in front of everyone at the Redlands Bowl. You know, the pressure was really on, making it difficult to paint. You start thinking, "What if I blow it?" Then people want to walk up to you and chat, etc., really blowing your concentration. But in a way, more fun.

Anyhow, once I got into the groove, and started to relax, it was fun.

Next, I think I will just bring a simple drawing box and either work on crowd scenes, or the actual Bowl.

Day 22 - Terrys Daily Painting

Drawing Skills

Sometimes you just have to put down the brush, so I did.

Did a practice drawing of trees down at the Redlands Bowl. I enjoyed the way that the Palm tree was peeping out of the side of the cypress.

This was done later in the evening, with no lighting, so there is no shape or form to these trees.

Day 21 - Terrys Daily Painting

Pushing Depth and Perspective - Part 2

Alright, working on values today. Not only values, but color combinations. Trying to attain a greater sense of depth and perspective.

Now, if you want more Palm Tree Paintings, I have a few more done. They look a little better than the last few, and not as great as my future Palm Trees will look.

Day 20 - Terrys Daily Painting

Pushing Depth and Perspective.

Sorry - Scanners not working again. But this did come out really nice. It was a value study. Got to look into why one day the scanner works, next day it doesn't.

Day 19 - Terrys Daily Painting

Imaginary Painting

Practicing with my colors to create the illusion of depth.

We have lots of these little hilly mountains here in Yucaipa. Can't wait to get out and paint some of them. (Next, I'll take better pictures:)

Day 18 - Terrys Daily Art

Back to the Mountain!

I was trying to capture little bits of things. A group of children, the distant mountains.

The funny thing is, I'm so glad that I don't create paintings to sell. It lets me be way free-er in my editing process. The two trees to the left are terrible! But something was happening with a new color combination, and I wanted to stop, before I finished developing the trees. This way I have a color note, and will try this combination in the future.

Day 17 - Terrys Daily Painting

So Sorry, I haven't posted for a while. I'd use illness, got sick on Thursday, but that is no excuse!. I will definitely do better this week.

This is a painting in Yucaipa. On Sunday nights they have concerts in the park. I like to set up far away, and paint and listen to great music. I think this one looks like a great abstracted painting of Yucaipa at Sunset.
