Day 7 - Terrys' Daily Painting
Went to Rancho Cucamonga - Lake GuastiHad alot of fun. Sue brought her grand daughter, D. D. is a fisher person. So, in between painting, Sue was busy putting worms on the hook.
Hey Sue, where did D put the leftover worms? Hope they are not crawling around in your car.

Day 6 - Terrys Daily Painting
Laundry Day Paintings.I decided to do laundry today. While doing laundry I found five palm trees out of the window of the laundromat. They were all different. So I wanted to explore how their shapes were different from each other. Alot of people create trees that look so similar.
By paying attention, I studies what made each palm tree unique.

Day 5 - Terry's Daily Painting

2 Value Studies.
At first I said, how lame, doing value studies. Copying from the masters. Boring. And then I learned a bunch of stuff, about pushing the value and building depth.

I also learned alot more about composition and working in 3 values. About creating eye paths and using values to tell the viewer where to look, and when.

Day 4 - Daily Painting - TERRY
Sketch & Wash DrawingI decided to give my sketch and wash pencils a try with my Aquabee paper. This is the second time that I've used it. I can see that there is going to be a learning curve. Probably within two weeks, I'll start to like using them.

Sunset Painting
I decided to do a fast painting at Sue's house. Again, using my new color palette, I can see that there is going to be a learning curve.I rather enjoyed painting the mountains, and the little bit of shrubbery in the middle. It required alot of thinking. I wanted to push it into the background, and yet, still make it noticeable.

Day 3 - Terry's Daily Painting
Sticking to a Commitment! This is tough! To be consistent every day. To do just a little bit of art, is difficult. My excuse for today. Well, I was enjoying the sander. I'm working on sanding the paneling in my van. Never sanded before, was scared of it. But now I love it. Going to be sad when I'm finished.
Went to Sylvan Park Today.
Had about 30 minutes, so I did a quick sketch. I couldn't believe that I forgot my water filled Niji brush. all 3 need to do a watercolor painting is 3 items. Paint, brush and paper, okay and water. How could I forget my water. I really enjoy the trees in the local parks.
Live, love and paint,

Daily Painting - Day 2
Terrys Report:Not time to do much today. I forgive myself though. I was highly productive yesterday.
Mixing Colors into Colors.
My regular palette consists of 10 colors. However, by doing slow little steps, I can come up with hundreds of variations by just mixing these few colors together slowly. I usually try to blend one color into another at least 7 times.
Last Weeks Drawing:

I thought that you would appreciate a copy of the drawing that I did at your house. I really enjoyed it there. Will have to show you the painting of the tree I did.

Fancy free
Daily Art - Day 1
First, I did a bunch of studies.
Practicing my brush strokes. I did four of each
a flat wash
Gradiated Wash and
Variegated Washes
Gradiated Wash and
Variegated Washes
So, Then I did a mini painting -
6 X 8 -
I was practicing lifting clouds, and working with wax sticks.
So, that was my afternoon.
For the evening, I decided to use my Aquabee paper.
I need to learn how much water to use. It originally started out as a value study. Then I decided to color it in.
This last painting is done on Arches 9 X 12.
I didn't have time to put in a bunch of the details like I did in the above painting.
This is the mobile home that I enjoy to paint. It was Ednas'. A real lovely lady. All in all, a real busy day.

Daily Painting - Day 1
Okay - First I did a Color Chart
Which takes hours, but I wanted to be clear on what my new colors would looks like.
Second - A Value Chart
This should be the easiest exercise for most people, but I struggle with it.
I'm very heavy handed when it comes to paint.
Third - I created a Value Study for my next still life.
After that I transfered my drawing onto two paper canvases, and started glazing the apple paintings. I'm up to 4 layers. Trying to remember a bunch of my old techniques.
So yeah, tomorrow I should have TWO paintings finished with my study.
It really is a good study. It's easy. Good shadow placement on my set up.
